Lilies

Lilies belong to a genus of herbaceous flowering plants growing from bulbs and most of them have large prominent flowers. Liliums are tall perennials, usually ranging in height from 60-180 cm. Their flowers are large, impressive and often fragrant. They come in a wide array of colors: white, yellow, orange, pink, red and purple, while some of them stand out for the spots or brush strokes that enrich their flower petals.

Liliums are listed among the most remarkable flowers in the market, mainly due to the color, shape and unique fragrance. Their long life span even after they are cut makes them an ideal choice to transform your premises with only one stroke.

Planet Flower specializes in the cultivation and production of lilies for more than 40 years and it is considered an expert in the field both in the Greek and the international market. In our facilities, we produce four different types of lilies, each of them has a unique feature that distinguished it from the others.

In Planet Flower you will find Asiatic, Longiflorum, LA Hybrids and Oriental lilies.

Asiatic

The most common type of the genus is the Asiatic lilies, which are in fact easier to grow that the others. It has a large array of shiny colors – from light pastel ones like white and pink, bright yellow, orange and purple to fiery red – while its flower has wide open petals leaning downwards, making it charming and attractive.

Longiflorum

Longiflorum, otherwise known as Easter lily, comes from Taiwan and South Japan, where it grows in forests and open fields. Its common name derives from the fact that it is one of the most popular flowers sold in the international market during Easter. It is a special kind of lilium with wide open trumpet shaped flowers and long oval leaves. It comes only in white and stands out for its distinct sweet fragrance.

LA Hybrids

This is the “newest” type of lilies as it appeared in the international flower market in the 1990s. The LA Hybrids are the evolution of the Asiatic lilies after their crossing with the Longiflorum type. They have incorporated the characteristics of both types, having the Longiflorum’s trumpet-shaped flowers and long life span in a vase, as well as the wide array of colors and distinct fragrance of the Asiatic lilies.

Oriental

The Oriental lilies are the most popular and impressive type of the genus in the entire international flower market. Their amazing shape and large exotic flowers, their fabulous and wide array of colors and their intoxicating fragrance combine to make them the most advanced and marketable type of lilies.
Oriental lilies stand out immediately from the other types of the same genus. Their seductive shape combines with a heavy and at the same time sweet fragrance, to attract anyone who comes close to it.
Oriental lilies also boast a wide array of colors like calming pink, classic pure white, passion red, bright orange and stunning purple. Many lilies of this type have spots or brush strokes which make them even more seductive and exotic.
